BREXIT A NEW SESSION Minister denies parliament suspension is Brexit trick

An ally of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has denied that the plan to suspend parliament for more than a month before Brexit is a way of stopping debate before a possible no-deal exit from the European Union (EU) on October 31.

Johnson’s move has enraged opponents and raises the stakes in the country’s most serious political process in decades.

Cabinet office minister Michael Gove, told reporters the move was not an attempt to stop MPs blocking the UK leaving the EU without a deal.

With just 65 days until exit day, parliamentarians are battling to prevent the prime minister from steering the country out of the EU without a transition deal.
