South African President Cyril Ramaphosa joined in the celebrations in Yokohama after the Springboks defeated England 32-12 on Saturday (November 2) to win the World Cup for the third time.

Wingers Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin Kolbe crossed in the last 15 minutes for South Africa’s first-ever tries in a World Cup final but six penalties from the boot of Handre Pollard had already put the Springboks firmly in charge.

South African captain Siya Kolisi lifted the Webb Ellis trophy to spark wild celebrations in the stadium and Ramaphosa, who earlier wore a dark suit, donned a Springboks jersey and held the trophy aloft with Kolisi.
